Day 17

Melba, Idaho (Colleen’s house)

Weather: Day 85 Night 50’s, Sunny and very warm
The hill at Hyde Park-you could go straight up, or walk the long way around
At the top, looking down at the street fair
Eric holding Walter at Ehud's house. Walter does not sit still for long-he is quite the active puppy!
Leah and Walter-Walter does a lot of jumping up and biting which is quite disconcerting to Leah! She does much better with big dogs, the little ones freak her out!

As I write this, Eric is curled up on the couch, suffering from some major stomach discomfort-he has gotten sick to his stomach twice this evening. I am hoping due to just overeating a lot of heavy, rich, food, and not a stomach virus. I am praying that it will pass tonight!
This morning we all took a drive into north Boise into a neighborhood called Hyde Park. There is an actual park area, but all of the surrounding neighborhood had yard sales and booths set up, and in the park was a street fair-bands, tents, vendors, etc. In the middle of the park is a large sand dune type hill. We all climbed up it (straight up), took some pictures, and then slid/climbed down. We walked around the vendors and then were done.
On our way back home we stopped at Sierra Trading Post Outlet store. We have shopped online at Sierra Trading Post many times and never knew that they had a storefront! It was the typical outlet store, but it was fun to go in and look around. I got a pair of hiking boots for a really great price, $50!
Once home, we took some time to relax before going over to Ehud and Cassie’s house for dinner. Colleen made a bunch of tacos stuff and Ehud grilled some kebabs-it was quite the smorgasbord. The kids had fun playing with their two dogs, Molly-an old black lab who thinks she’s still young, and Walter-their 4 month old Boston Terrier, who really is young! After dinner, some of us went and played Frisbee golf at West Park again. When we showed up at the first hole, we met some local guys who were waiting to play. After some casual conversation, Dennis mentioned that he had lost a disc yesterday in the pond and it turned out that this guy and his friend had gone wading in the pond this morning and retrieved a bunch of discs-Dennis’ being one of them! What providence! Dennis paid the guy $5 for getting the disc as a reward and he got his classic disc back. No one put any discs in the pond tonight-we all played it safe and still had a great time.
Dennis and I made a trip to Wal-mart to restock on supplies before we leave tomorrow to head south into Utah and it’s off to bed-praying Eric gets better real fast!

  1. My Gandma's name was Melba! :) hope eric feels better! Sam had a stomach bug on sunday but it passed super quick and he was a real trooper. He had actually "spilled his grapes" three times in the bathroom before he got us up, what a considerate kid!
