We enjoyed a nice breakfast this morning with Aunt Jeanne-including her homemade cinnamon rolls. Dennis’ cousin, Jay and wife, Sheila, stopped by for a visit. They took a look at the RV and discovered a low tire-after some further investigation we suspect it is a leaky valve extender. We filled the tire up with air, tightened the valve extender and experience no more problems with that today. We will need to get it fixed at some point, but for now we may just need to fill up with air occasionally. That being said, we learned a valuable RV lesson-most gas stations that have air cater specifically to cars-the air tank is not located in an area that is easy to pull through. We must have stopped at 4 or 5 stations for air before we found an actual truck/travel plaza that had easy air access. Lesson learned!
Since we spent a long time on the road again today, the kids started work on their geography notebooks. They will be maintaining a notebook that has the United States divided into regions-with places for them to label maps along the way, journal each night, and also fill in information about the states as we come to it.
The drive was rather uneventful-we started out in the mountains of West Virginia into Pennsylvania and then into Ohio. Once we left Columbus, the land leveled out and it was pretty much straight and smooth until Cincinnati. We took Rt. 71 South right through downtown and enjoyed the skyline and the interesting buildings and twisting  highway overpasses and bridges. Then it was into the rolling hills of Kentucky and its many horse farms on our way to Big Bone Lick SP near Florence, KY. We pulled in just as the rain started and hooked up quickly to a site with water and electric. The campground is nice, but cramped. There is only 1 bathhouse for the entire campground of 62 sites, so I can forsee that being an issue at some point. Thankfully we have all those things available on the RV if needed. We plan on staying here for 3 nights-leaving on Tuesday morning.
Lunch was on the road and dinner tonight was baked potatoes and broccoli with cheese sauce. After dinner (since the rain let up) we took a walk around the campground and the kids played with their new marshmallow shooters.  It’s extremely muggy as the tropical moisture from Hurricane Isaac has followed us to the Midwest, so the A/C will be running the whole time we are here. No cool weather yet!
